GET/api/v1/historical/aflAPI plan
AFL historical archive — player game logs (2010+) or match results (2018+ via Akareen, pre-2018 via AFL Tables backfill).
Tier detail: api (paid) — 'historical' is NOT in the free-tier feature set
Cache: free=3600s, api=1800s. kind=match with year<2018 silently swaps collection to the historical matches collection (identically shaped). Uses shared the standard v1 route factory wrapper (historical-window clamp on since/from, empty-result credit refund, 200 + `data: []` on empty).

Full accumulated game-by-game history for a player+stat combo (not a fixed recent-form window — depth varies per player).

Does NOT use the standard v1 route factory — hand-rolled handler, no explicit the credit cost field/mechanism (unlike the shared wrapper's credit-cost headers). recentGames written append-only via a server-side array append so a doc holds FULL history, not a 15-game window; history_from/history_to expose real span. Cache: free=300s, api=120s. Over-fetches limit*4 (capped 2000) then filters player/team in memory.

Cache: free=3600s, api=1800s. Has BOTH the primary-store loader and the cold-archive loader (cold-archive fallback only fires if the cold-archive flag and the primary store throws). Slug lookup bypasses the limit param entirely.

Historical opening and closing lines for one sport — either the market-average/consensus series (open/min/max/close per market, one row per match) or our own per-bookmaker AU archive.

Two series behind one path, selected by `series`, both requiring `sport_key`. `market_consensus` (default) is match-grain with a `markets[]` array carrying the open/close/min/max quartet per market (`h2h`, `line`, `totals`; the handicap and total markets also carry `line_open`/`line_close`/`line_min`/`line_max`), plus `bookmakers_surveyed`; `meta.sport` is a display label (`NRL`) and `meta.current_through` is the coverage edge measured **before** any season/team filter (`2026-10-04` for `rugbyleague_nrl`), so an empty page with a recent edge means the filter matched nothing rather than that nothing is held. `au_books` is our own per-bookmaker archive, match-grain with a nested `books[]` → `markets[]` block (`open`, `close`, `captures`, `open_at`, `close_at`) — note `meta.sport` there is the raw `sport_key`, not a label. `au_books` rows are not all head-to-head fixtures: futures/outright markets appear with empty `home_team`/`away_team` and a `season` ahead of the current year (`rugbyleague_nrl` returns a `2027-05-26` outright), so read `season` as the competition season the market belongs to, not as ‘this was played’. `truncated` here is a real ‘more rows exist’ flag (the loader fetches one row past the limit), not a length test: `limit=1` on a 3,634-row competition is `count: 1, truncated: true`, while the fully-consumed `season=2025` page is `count: 213, truncated: false`. `rows_scanned` tells you how much was read before filtering. An empty result is a **200** with `data: []`, `truncated: false` and `x-credits-cost: 0` — it is refunded rather than billed. A rejected request still bills: a 400 (`?sport_key=nope_bad_key`) moved `/me/usage` by 1 credit and carried **no** `x-credits-cost` header, so watch the usage total rather than the error. A read that fails behind the route answers **503** with `Retry-After: 30` and `meta.failed_sources` instead of an empty page. `Cache-Control: private, no-store` with `X-Cache-Age` 1800 on the `api` tier (3600 on `free`); the credit and rate-limit headers are present on 200s. The example is the live, unmodified response to `?sport_key=rugbyleague_nrl&limit=1`; it names no data source.
